As the iconic Didcot Power Station prepared for decommissioning in March 2013, I felt inspired to capture one of the views I had grown up with. Born and raised in Milton, just a short distance away, the cooling towers have been a familiar presence throughout my life, visible from countless perspectives and always shifting in different lights. This painting depicts a spring sunrise, with a soft mist cloaking the landscape. The warm pink hues of dawn meet the deep greens of a field dotted with blooming wildflowers, creating a gentle yet striking contrast against the silhouette of the towers.
